Hurriyat Conference condemns extrajudicial killings, mass arrests in occupied Kashmir, expresses concern over deteriorating situation in the region

Srinagar (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - NNI. 09 February 2025) In Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other freedom-loving organizations have strongly condemned the extrajudicial killing of two innocent civilians and the mass arrest of Kashmiri youth by Indian troops in Baramulla and Kathua districts. According to Kashmir Media Service, All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, Muslim League, Democratic Freedom Party and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat in their statements in Srinagar said that there has been an increase in extrajudicial killings and unjustified arrests in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that more than 800 youth have been illegally detained in recent days.

He said that the aim of these actions is to spread fear and terror among Kashmiris on a large scale and force them to stay away from their legitimate freedom struggle. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has demanded a transparent investigation into the brutal killings of two civilians in Baramulla and Kathua and bringing the Indian soldiers involved to justice.

The spokesperson demanded the immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiri youth and urged the international community to take notice of the increasing Indian oppression and tyranny in the occupied territory and put pressure on India for a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute. Senior National Conference leader and Indian Parliamentarian Rohullah Mehdi, while speaking to media persons in Delhi, expressed grave concern over the deteriorating situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that a large number of youth have been illegally arrested and shifted to unknown places. He said that the people of the occupied territory are being collectively punished. Rohullah Mehdi also condemned the custodial killings of truck driver Waseem Mir in Baramulla and Makhan Din, a resident of Kathua, and demanded justice for their families.

Meanwhile, the occupying authorities placed Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti and her daughter Iltija Mufti under house arrest in Srinagar and prevented them from going to Baramulla and Kathua to express solidarity with the families of martyred youths Waseem Mir and Makhan Din. Iltija Mufti, in a statement, expressed regret that even after the elections, there has been no change in the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
