Brussels (Point News Today / Latest News - International Press Agency. February 13, 2025) British Defense Secretary John Haley says there will be no talks on Ukraine without Ukraine's involvement. During a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, British Defense Secretary John Haley responded to Donald Trump's statement on the Ukraine war, saying that NATO's job is to put Ukraine in the strongest position for any negotiations.

John Haley also says that new announcements will be made about NATO's assistance to Ukraine, including billions of dollars in new firepower for Ukrainian military personnel on the front line. He said that we want to see lasting peace and do not want to return to conflict and aggression. We must not forget that Russia remains a threat outside of Ukraine. John Haley said that the UK is committed to ensuring that Kiev is in a strong position to negotiate and fight and that their goal is a lasting peace.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has said that any peace agreement requires Russia to make no further attempts to occupy Ukrainian territory in the future. The statements came after Donald Trump said that he and Vladimir Putin had agreed to start immediate talks to end the war and that they would meet soon in Saudi Arabia. The Swedish Defense Minister said that Ukraine could become a member of NATO in the future. Speaking at the NATO summit in Brussels, Paul Johnson said that he does not think that Ukraine will lose NATO membership.

He said that our position is known to everyone and we stand behind what was said at the Washington summit that Ukraine’s future is in NATO when normal conditions return there and people live normal lives. US Defense Secretary Heg Sheth said that US efforts to broker peace talks between Ukraine and Russia are certainly not a betrayal of Ukrainian soldiers who have been fighting against the invasion for the past 3 years.

Hegseth stressed that the United States has made an incredible commitment to NATO. No other country has a greater commitment to the Ukraine mission than the United States. He said that after Russia’s aggression, the United States has invested more than $300 billion to stabilize the front line. The world is lucky that President Trump is here and only he can bring the forces together to bring peace at this time.

Fighting continues between Russia and Ukraine during a meeting of NATO defense chiefs in Brussels. The Ukrainian Air Force says it recorded 140 drone attacks overnight, which began at 8 p.m. local time. The areas of Odessa and Kharkiv were reportedly targeted. The Ukrainian military also says it defended the attack and confirmed by 9 a.m. local time that 85 drones had been shot down.
