ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint News Today/ Pakistan Point News - 11th Jan, 2025 ) At least 10 more people, including a child, were killed in Israeli airstrikes in southern Gaza on Saturday morning, according to medical sources in the Gaza Strip. On the other hand, stalled talks on a ceasefire in Gaza have resumed in the Qatari city of Doha.
The Associated Press news agency quoted hospital staff in southern Gaza as saying that three airstrikes on Saturday morning targeted a vehicle, a house and people on a road.
The Israeli military did not immediately respond to the allegation. However, Israeli forces are continuing operations against Palestinian militants in Gaza.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health, which operates under the supervision of Hamas in Gaza, said that at least 59 people were killed and more than 270 were injured in various Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours.
New round of ceasefire talks
Negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza have resumed in the Qatari capital Doha, but there has been no immediate word on any progress. According to the Palestinian militant group Hamas, the talks resumed on Friday. Hamas has said it is determined to reach a ceasefire agreement.
Talks for a ceasefire in Gaza, brokered by the United States, Qatar and Egypt, have stalled several times, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that Israel will continue its military operations in Gaza until Hamas is completely eliminated. Germany, the United States and several countries consider Hamas a terrorist group.
It should be noted that on October 7, 2023, about 1,200 people were killed in a Hamas terrorist attack in southern Israel, most of whom were Israeli civilians.
Hamas fighters kidnapped about 250 people and took them to Gaza with them. About 100 of the hostages are still being held by the Palestinian militant group, at least a third of whom are believed to have been killed.
In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks, Israel launched a major ground and air campaign in Gaza.
According to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry, more than 45,700 Palestinians have been killed in the campaign, most of them women and children.
Israeli raids in the West Bank
Palestinians in the Nablus area of the occupied West Bank, which is run by the Palestinian Authority, mourn the death of an 18-year-old boy who was killed in a clash with Israeli forces.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, the boy died in a clash with Israeli forces in the Balata refugee camp.
More than 800 Palestinians have been killed in various Israeli raids and clashes in the West Bank since October 7, 2023.
Israel defends attack on northern Gaza hospital
Israel has defended the bombing of a hospital in northern Gaza.
According to Israel, the Kamal Adwan hospital was being used by Hamas fighters to “regroup”. In this context, the director of the hospital, Hussam Abu Safia, was arrested.
On the other hand, the United Nations has called for Abu Safia’s immediate release. Daniel Meron, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, said in a message on social media that the raid on the Kamal Adwan hospital was carried out after “irrefutable evidence” was obtained that Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad fighters were using the hospital for their “regrouping”.
