Syrian Foreign Minister in Doha for talks with top Qatari officials

Islamabad (UrduPoint News Today/ Pakistan Point News - 15th January, 2025 ) According to reports received from Doha on Sunday, January 5, a senior Qatari official said that during his visit, Al-Shaibani is also meeting the Gulf Arab state’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al-Khelaifi.

In the Middle Eastern state of Syria, which has been in the grip of civil war for many years, the decades-old rule of President Bashar Al-Assad ended on the 8th of last month when a Syrian opposition coalition led by the Islamist armed organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham took control of Damascus.

Al-Shaibani recently wrote in a post on the social media platform X that he would soon visit Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.


International flights resume from Damascus Airport

A Syrian aviation official announced that international passenger flights from the capital Damascus will resume next week.


Ashhad al-Sulaibi, head of the Syrian Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority, announced that international passenger flights from Damascus International Airport will resume from Tuesday, January 7.

According to sources in the Syrian Ministry of Transport, international air traffic from Damascus Airport had to be suspended last month when the airport was vandalized immediately after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime and important technical installations were damaged.

According to Ashhad al-Sulaibi, the country's civil aviation authority is working rapidly to fully restore both Damascus airports and the airport in the northern city of Aleppo, so that passenger flights to and from all over the world can resume from these three airports as soon as possible.

Earlier this week, Qatar Airways announced that its commercial flights from Damascus would resume from Tuesday, January 7.
