US President Donald Trump has authorized the delivery of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel.

Trump has urged Jordan and Egypt to take in more Palestinian refugees from Gaza.

The deadline for completing the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon ends today, Sunday, January 26. It seems that Israel will not complete the implementation of the agreement reached with the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah today.

According to the agreement reached in late November, the Lebanese army had agreed to deploy its forces with UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, while the Israeli army was supposed to withdraw during this time.

The agreement also stipulated that Hezbollah fighters would withdraw north of the Litani River, about 30 kilometers from the border.

The Lebanese army had accused Israel of delaying the military withdrawal yesterday.

The Lebanese army said in a statement that “the Israeli enemy’s delay in the withdrawal” had delayed other stages of the agreement.

Earlier this week, a statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said, “The ceasefire agreement has not yet been fully implemented by the Lebanese state and therefore the military withdrawal will take place after the Sunday deadline.”

US President Donald Trump has told reporters that Jordan and Egypt should shelter more Palestinians from Gaza.

The US president said of a telephone conversation with Jordanian King Abdullah II, “I told him I want you to do more, because I’m looking at the whole Gaza Strip right now and it’s a problem, a real problem.”

President Trump said he would also speak to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday. “I want Egypt to take people (from Gaza) home,” he said. “We’re talking about 1.5 million people, we clean everything up and then you can say this problem is over.”

Before the war in Gaza, the population of the territory was about 2.4 million, most of whom have been displaced by the conflict.

President Trump announced the end of the Biden administration’s ban on supplying 2,000-pound bombs to Israel.

“Many items that were ordered and paid for by Israel, but not delivered by the Biden administration, are now being shipped to Israel,” the US president wrote in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Last year, the administration of then-President Joe Biden stopped the delivery of these bombs because they feared they could have a negative impact on the civilian population of Gaza.

A ceasefire in Gaza came into effect a week ago, as a result of which some Israeli hostages held by Hamas were released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
