Srinagar (UrduPoint News Today/ Pakistan Point News - NNI. 01 January 2025) In the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir of India, Indian forces martyred 101 innocent Kashmiris, including 3 minor boys, during their ongoing acts of state terrorism last year (2024). Of these, 50 people were martyred in fake encounters or through brutal torture during detention. The figures released today by the Research Department of Kashmir Media Service said that as a result of these martyrdoms, 8 women became widows and 24 children became orphans.
Indian troops violated two women during this period while destroying 12 residential houses. The report said that 67 people were injured due to brutal use of force on protesters in 2024, Indian forces arrested 3,492 people, including Hurriyat leaders, activists, students and lawyers.
Kashmiri Muslims continued to face restrictions on religious gatherings and the occupying Indian administration did not allow them to offer Friday and Eid prayers in several mosques, including the historic Jamia Masjid and Eidgah in Srinagar.
The Indian administration also continued the process of confiscating the homes, lands and other properties of Kashmiris and confiscated more than 183 properties, including agricultural land, houses, shops and offices. At least 51 Kashmiri employees were dismissed from their jobs last year. The report further said that despite Indian oppression and tyranny, the morale of Kashmiris is high and they are determined to take the great mission of the martyrs to its logical conclusion.
India is in fact fighting a losing war in the occupied territory, its soldiers are committing suicide, last year 25 personnel of Indian forces committed suicide in the occupied territory. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, prayed for peace and prosperity around the world in a message in Srinagar on the arrival of the new solar year. He prayed for justice and dignity for the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and demanded the release of all Kashmiri political detainees from Indian jails. Meanwhile, farmers have gone on a hunger strike in Pulwama to protest the encroachment of 600 acres of fertile agricultural land in the name of a technical institute campus. This land, which has 5.5 lakh fruit trees, is crucial for local agriculture, and the farmers fear losing their livelihood as the project threatens their crops and economy. The Modi government’s Hindutva ideology has also reached the remote region of Ladakh, where it has installed a 30-foot-tall statue of the 17th century Hindu ruler Shivaji on the banks of Pangong Tso. Local leaders and activists have termed the move as “cultural invasion”.
