'Cow urine has extraordinary medical benefits', says Indian scientist

 Monday, January 20, 2025

Islamabad (Point News Today / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jan, 2025 ) Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Director Vizinathan Kamakoti recently highlighted the medical benefits of cow urine, or cow urine, while addressing a public event. He mentioned the “antibacterial and antifungal properties” of cow urine and said that drinking it also improves digestion.

The controversy has been revived in India once again after the video of his speech went viral.

Indian state of Chhattisgarh starts government procurement of cow urine

In the viral video, Kamakoti shared a story about a monk who allegedly got rid of a high fever by drinking cow urine.

Kamakoti said, "A monk had a high fever and was thinking of calling a doctor.

I forget the monk's name, but he said 'Gaumutharan Panami' meaning I want to drink cow urine. After that, he immediately drank cow urine and within 15 minutes his fever went down."

Statement severely criticized

Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK has strongly criticized Kamakoti, calling his statement 'nonsense'. Party leader TKS Ellingwein said that this director should be thrown out of the education system.

Promoting Hindutva ideology, modern science is being targeted!

He alleged that by making such people responsible for higher educational institutions, the BJP central government actually wants to ruin the country's education and educational institutions.

"It is unfortunate for the students. Kamakuti has proven by his statement that he is unfit.

He should have been in a temple instead of an educational institution," Ellingwein said. "The government should have posted this person in a government hospital, but not in Tamil Nadu, but in Uttar Pradesh or somewhere else where he can fool people with his words, where he can deceive people and lie about cow urine."

India: Criticism of cow urine, journalist and activist jailed

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram reacted to the statement of the director of IIT Madras in support of cow urine, saying that it is highly inappropriate for the head of such a prestigious scientific institution to advocate fake science.

BJP supports the director's statement

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacked the DMK and the Congress, saying that "useless" people say many things. The party said, "Gaumutra is a traditional Indian medicine. Even many medicines contain gaumutra and we buy these medicines from shops."

BJP leader Narayan Tirupati said, "It is a kind of substance which is used in medicines.

Everyone knows that our former Prime Minister Morarji Desai also used to drink gaumutra. It is present in Indian tradition... It is a belief, which many people believe in and if someone does not believe, then let him leave it."

'I drink cow urine daily': Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar

He added, "You cannot comment on a person like the IIT director who is an intellectual, an honest man, a highly educated man, he is very outspoken.

Those who are criticising a Brahmin have no other work to do."

It is worth noting that about two years ago, Union Minister Parshottam Rupala had said that it was time to tell the world that cow dung and urine are sacred for humans and Indian scientists should try to prove this scientifically.

However, virologist and traditional medicine researcher Deb Prasad Chattopadhyay says, "Cow dung and urine are waste, there is no test that has proven or can be proven that they are beneficial for us."
