Mohammad Amir announces retirement

Islamabad (Point News Today / Pakistan Point News - 14th December, 2024) Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has announced his retirement from international cricket. He announced his decision through a tweet on X, “After much thought, I have taken the difficult decision to retire from international cricket.” Amir added that these decisions are never easy, but sometimes their time comes.
Thirty-two-year-old Amir further wrote, “I think it is the right time for the next generation to take the helm of Pakistani cricket and take it to new heights.”
Mohammad Amir played thirty-six Test matches for Pakistan, in which he took a total of 119 wickets. In one-day cricket, he took 81 wickets in 61 matches, while in T20 cricket, he represented Pakistan in 62 matches and took 71 wickets.
A career full of ups and downs
He was banned for five years for spot-fixing during a match played in England in 2010. Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif were also banned with him. The three players later had to serve jail time in England.

Amir returned to cricket in 2016 and then represented Pakistan in all formats.
Mohammad Amir had announced his retirement from cricket after not being included in the team for the series against New Zealand in December 2021. However, he continued to play T20 franchise cricket. Then he withdrew his retirement decision in 2024 and represented Pakistan in the T20 World Cup played in the United States and the West Indies.
Currently, Mohammad Amir is playing the T10 League in Sri Lanka.
