India is flouting the international human rights charter in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, say speakers

Islamabad (Point News Today / Pakistan Point News - NNI. 12th December, 2024) Friends of Kashmir International organized a seminar titled “Human Rights for All, Raise the Voice of Kashmir to the World”. The seminar was directed by Abdul Hameed Lone, Vice Chairman of Friends of Kashmir International. According to Kashmir Media Service, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed said in his address that Pakistan will be getting observer membership in the United Nations Security Council next year (2025), so it should take advantage of this opportunity to highlight the Kashmir issue and gain international support in this regard.


Mashal Hussain Malik, Chairperson of Peace and Culture Organization, drew attention to the ongoing human rights violations in Kashmir.


She also appealed for cooperation to raise awareness about the plight of her husband Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is lodged in the infamous Tihar Jail in New Delhi. Tayyaba Khurshid, Research Officer at the Center for International Strategic Studies, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, said that the Modi government is using black laws against Muslims in India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir without any hesitation.


She said that there is a need to formulate a coherent strategy to highlight the Kashmir issue at the global level. She said that youth can play an important role in exposing the terrible Indian face in occupied Jammu and Kashmir through social media. Abdul Hameed Lone said that the United Nations Universal Charter of Human Rights is a complete package regarding human rights, but India is flouting this charter, which is regrettable.


He said that we should raise our voice vigorously against state-sponsored terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan Television (PTV) Senior Anchor Yasir Rehman, while shedding light on the multifaceted aspects of the Kashmir dispute, said that the world recognizes Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory, India can never affect its disputed status through its illegal actions.

Muzammil Ayub Thakur, President of the World Kashmir Freedom Movement, said that the diaspora Kashmiris and Pakistanis are playing an important role in the Kashmir cause. The session concluded with the remarks of Ghazala Habib, Chairperson of Friends of Kashmir International. She thanked the speakers and proposed the formation of an action committee for a concrete plan to raise the Kashmir issue on multiple platforms. She appealed to the international community to play a role in the release of Kashmiri political detainees Asia Andrabi, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and others. The seminar was also addressed by Pervez Ahmed Shah and Manzoor Ahmed Shah, General Secretaries of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir Branch.
