ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint News Today/ Pakistan Point News - 26th December, 2024) Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has said that 2024 has been an active year for Pakistan’s diplomacy, with our diplomatic efforts focused on raising Pakistan’s international profile and strengthening our relations with countries around the world. At a press briefing here on Thursday, she said that during the year, high-level visits were exchanged with Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, China, Egypt, Gambia, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Qatar, Russia, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom, which helped in building important understandings with these countries.
The spokesperson said that President Asif Ali Zardari visited Turkmenistan to attend the International Forum on “Interconnection of Time and Civilizations – Foundation of Peace and Development” held in Ashgabat on October 10 and 11.
He said that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited Azerbaijan, China, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates.
The spokesperson said that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar also paid important visits to Azerbaijan, Belgium, Egypt, Gambia, Iran, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Kingdom. The spokesperson said that these visits provided an important opportunity to enhance bilateral relations, promote important political understanding and strengthen trade and investment ties.
He said that Pakistan also hosted several high-level dignitaries. Leadership-level visits were made from Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, while senior cabinet ministers from China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, India, Germany, Qatar, Russia and the United Kingdom visited Pakistan. The spokesperson said that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Secretary General CICA and the Secretaries General of SAARC, IMO and Commonwealth also visited Pakistan during the current year.\932
