According to the details, a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior was held under the chairmanship of Khurram Nawaz. The meeting considered the proposed legislation to issue Pakistani passports to citizens of countries with dual citizenship agreements. It was revealed in the meeting regarding dual citizenship that 22,000 bureaucrats have dual citizenship. Committee member Agha Rafiullah raised questions as to how many Pakistanis have dual citizenship? How many have renounced dual citizenship? Does NADRA have data on how many people have dual citizenship in which countries? In the past, the certificates of 45,000 students of Al-Khair University were verified to verify the degree of Chairman NAB. How was the issue of dual citizenship relaxed to award a single person? Last year, a person was given an important position by giving relief on dual citizenship, with which countries does Pakistan have a citizenship agreement?

In the meeting, PP leader Nabil Gabol opposed the legislation to give passports to those who renounce Pakistani citizenship and said that legislation should not be made to benefit one person from a single party. Those who surrender their Pakistani nationality by going abroad are dishonoring the country. I strongly oppose giving citizenship or passport to give a position to a single person. In the next meeting, the Foreign Office officials should be called and details should be taken about this.

On this occasion, government member Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said in support of the bill that surrendering nationality by going abroad is not dishonoring the country. Only the citizens who are going abroad and spreading mischief against Pakistan have their passports cancelled. Committee member Abdul Qadir Patel said that currently 22,000 bureaucrats have dual citizenship. A member of the National Assembly, a judge cannot have dual citizenship, but a bureaucrat can.
