Lahore (UrduPoint News - 09 January 2025) The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court indicted PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, Sanam Javed and other accused in the May 9 arson attack case. All the accused denied the charges. ATC Court Judge Manzar Ali Gul heard the case in Kot Lakhpat Jail. During this, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders, including former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood, Yasmin Rashid, Sanam Javed and other accused were presented in the court.


During the hearing, the judge read out the indictment. The Shadman Police Station has registered a case of arson attack against all the accused in the Shadman Police Station. It may be recalled that earlier, on December 12 last year, the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court indicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, PTI leader Yasmin Rashid, Mahmood Rashid in the Shadman arson attack case.


On this occasion, PTI leaders denied the charges. Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Manazer Ali Gul heard the case in Kot Lakhpat Jail. Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid and Mahmoud Rashid were presented in the ATC court. Judge Manazer Ali read out the charge sheet in the court. During the hearing, former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, former Provincial Health Minister Yasmin Rashid, former Senior Provincial Minister Mian Mahmood Rashid, Senator Ijaz Chaudhry, former Punjab Governor Omar Sarfaraz Cheema and other accused were indicted. The court had indicted in the Shadman Police Station Jalaw Gherao case and summoned witnesses for the next hearing. Earlier, the Anti-Terrorism Court had also fixed a date for indicting PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mahmood Rashid and others in other cases including Jalaw Gherao. Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Arshad Javed heard five arson cases, including the burning of the PML-N office. During the hearing, the court distributed copies of the challans to the accused. It was informed that the accused included Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Ijaz Chaudhry, Mahmood Rashid and others. Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Manzar Ali Gul had sought arguments on the interim bail of MPA Imtiaz Mahmood Sheikh in three arson cases, including the Askari Tower, at the next hearing. The JIT had found Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh guilty in two cases, including the burning of vehicles in the square near Jinnah House.
