Islamabad (UrduPoint News international- 02 January 2025) Senior journalist Zahid Gashkori has claimed that former Army Chief General (R) Qamar Javed Bajwa has been banned from meeting people. General (R) Qamar Javed Bajwa has been banned from meeting people. General (R) Bajwa is currently in Pakistan. According to Aaj News, in a video statement, Zahid Gashkori claimed that the legal team of the former DG ISI said that General (R) Faiz Hameed wants the statement of General (R) Qamar Javed Bajwa to be recorded as well.
The case against General (R) Faiz Hameed will reach its end any time this month as the arguments are in their final stages. The journalist also says that the former Army Chief has not been allowed to meet anyone.
Pakistan's former army chief is subject to a two-year ban on meetings after leaving office, but General (retd) Bajwa's basic term has also been completed.
It should be noted that it was earlier reported that Field General Court Martial proceedings had been initiated against former DG ISI General (retd) Faiz Hameed. General (retd) Faiz Hameed was formally charged. In this regard, the Pakistan Army's Public Relations Department (ISPR) said that Field General Court Martial proceedings had been initiated against Faiz Hameed and Faiz Hameed was formally charged in the next stage of the Field General Court Martial.
According to the Pakistan Army spokesperson, these charges included involvement in political activities, harming the security and interests of the state by violating the Official Secrets Act, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing undue harm to individuals. According to the ISPR, former DG ISI General (retd) Faiz Hameed was formally charged.
Faiz Hameed was accused of being involved in political activities. The ISPR further said that a separate investigation was also being conducted regarding the involvement of Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed in the violent incidents related to chaos and unrest in the country during the Field General Court Martial process. Several incidents of violence and unrest were also investigated, including those related to May 9.
The investigation also included the intention and collusion of nefarious political elements in these numerous violent incidents. The ISPR said that during the Field General Court Martial process, Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed was being provided with all legal rights as per the law. According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), Field General Court Martial proceedings were initiated against Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed on August 12, 2024 under the relevant provisions of the Pakistan Army Act.
