Jacobabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - NNI. January 30, 2025) Sindh Progressive Party Chairman Dr. Qadir Magsi has said that Asif Zardari has stood with Shahbaz Sharif on the issue of removing canals from the Indus River. Shahbaz's government stands on Bilawal's shoulders. If the canals are removed, the Indus River will dry up. If the PPP is against canals, then why doesn't it present a resolution in the National Assembly, Senate and Provincial Assembly? Pakistan is alive not because of Lahore, Faisalabad, Mardan or Peshawar but because of the sea of Karachi. The port of Karachi is providing oxygen to the rulers. The Indus River is our jugular vein. The lives of 60 million people are linked to the Indus River, which will lead to severe consequences if it is disturbed. The Indus River was given to us not by the federation or Zardari but by nature. For thousands of years, blood has been circulating in our bodies with the waves of the Indus. We will not allow canals to be removed from the Indus River under any circumstances.

He expressed these views while addressing a public meeting held at Habib Chowk in Jacobabad. He said that the rulers and Punjab are looking at our water with a dirty eye. For 40 years, efforts have been made to build the Kalabagh Dam. General Zia tried to build the Kalabagh Dam but the people of Sindh thwarted his intentions. After the nuclear explosions, Mian Nawaz Sharif announced that he would now make another explosion in the form of the Kalabagh Dam, but the people put an end to his arrogance and he withdrew his announcement. Then a uniformed Musharraf came who was talking about building the Kalabagh Dam by going left and right. We surrounded him and he ran away. He said that on whose orders is Shahbaz Sharif drawing a canal from the Indus River? When the dam could not be built, now a conspiracy is being made to steal the water of Sindh by drawing a canal. There are currently problems in the country such as hunger, poverty, unemployment, electricity, gas, law and order, which instead of solving, plans are being made to draw canals. He said that there should be no compromise on Sindh's water and autonomy. They want to kill us by shutting off our water, the country cannot run by shutting off water to 60 million people, how can they be wise who are making anti-people decisions? He said that behind the decisions of the rulers is lust, greed, oppression and coercion, but the rulers have to remember that the people of Sindh are ready to go to the extreme for the survival and integrity of their land. He said that the rulers think that they are powerful, but God is powerful and after that the poor people are powerful. A conspiracy is being hatched to turn Sindh into a barren land to settle the lands of Punjab. Dr. Qadir Magsi further said that crores of people are dying of hunger, lakhs of people are homeless, basic facilities including education, health, law and order are not available in Sindh and the rulers are building their palaces in Dubai, America and Britain. He said that the farmers will be evicted from their lands through carport farming. The rulers want to enslave the people of Sindh by establishing a company government in Sindh. We have to launch a long movement to save Sindh and the people will demand their rights. Therefore, we have to come out in the field.

He said that Sindh's oil, gas and coal are creating light in the lives of the people of Punjab, the country is in the grip of unrest, performing the national anthem has become a problem in Balochistan, people in KPK cannot leave their homes in the evening, Sindh has become a bandit regime, the people of Sindh are being kidnapped like animals, people are insecure due to unrest, the rulers are not serious about solving the problems of the country, the people of Sindh have to be brought out for their future.
