Lahore (UrduPoint Newspaper Latest. December 24, 2024) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that there is no tolerance for negligence in the security of Christian brothers. Maryam Nawaz has ordered foolproof security arrangements across Punjab on the occasion of Christmas. The Punjab Chief Minister also instructed to provide special discounts for the Christian community in cheap markets. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has decided to express solidarity with the Christian community by cutting a cake at the Police Meesaq Center. In a statement, the Punjab Chief Minister said that the relevant departments should take responsibility for cleanliness around churches.


Police and other security personnel should be increased in churches in all major cities, including Lahore. She also ordered to improve traffic management during Christmas celebrations.


Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while directing to further improve the security of prayer ceremonies in churches on the occasion of Christmas, said that all district administrations and police officers should ensure supervision of Christmas arrangements.


It may be recalled that earlier the federal government had declared a public holiday on December 25 on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Day. The State Bank of Pakistan had also declared a public holiday on December 25, 2024 (Wednesday) on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas. The announcement issued by the State Bank stated that the State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on December 25, 2024 (Wednesday) on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas as announced by the Government of Pakistan.

Quaid-e-Azam Day is celebrated at the official level on December 25 and the same Christian community also celebrates Christmas. December 25 is a public holiday across the country. In view of the arrival of Christmas, the Punjab Police had ensured foolproof arrangements for the security of churches across the province, including Lahore.
