Athens (Point News Today / Pakistan Point News - 17th December 2024) Heartbreaking revelations have come to light from Pakistanis who survived the Greek boat accident. The rescued Pakistanis told the media that they paid money to the agent who took them to Libya. When they reached Libya from Pakistan, they spent a lot of difficult days there. They stayed in Libya for one and a half to two months. They were picked up from the house where they were kept and brought to the shipyard. When the ship left on December 11, the conditions at sea were very bad. The water flow was very fast and the boat was small and unfit for travel. They were forced to board it. The engines in the boat were also of poor quality. The boat capsized after colliding with a ship. The victims said that the accident occurred on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. There were 84 people on board the boat that was involved in the accident, out of which about 40 people were rescued. However, dozens of Pakistanis drowned in the sea before our eyes in this accident. After the accident, the cargo ship saved our lives. However, during this time, all our clothes, mobile phones and shoes were washed away in the water. Now we have no clothes or shoes and we are not even in contact with our families. We are currently staying in a camp in Greece.

In this regard, Pakistan's Ambassador to Greece Amir Aftab Qureshi expressed concerns and said that dozens of Pakistanis who drowned in the boat accident are still missing and their hopes of survival have been lost. So far, 4 Pakistanis have been confirmed dead in the boat accident. There were more than 80 Pakistanis on board the boat, which sank thousands of feet deep in the sea at an unknown location. Rescue operations are underway at the scene of the accident.

The Pakistani ambassador says that there were Pakistanis on board five boats illegally leaving Libya. The boat first cracked and then sank. The bodies of the deceased citizens will be sent to Pakistan at government expense. Steps are underway to send the bodies back to Pakistan. They are in contact with Greek authorities in this regard. In addition, facilities are being provided to the survivors.
